Contractor completes £5.3M resurfacing scheme near Glencoe

A surfacing contract for Edmund Nuttall has been completed on Lairig Eilde Bridge, near Glencoe, in the Scottish Highlands.

More than 1,000 tonnes of asphalt was laid, including 14mm stone mastic asphalt as the finished surface. The work was carried out by Bardon Contracting, Aggregate Industries' road surfacing and civil engineering business.

Edmund Nuttall's £5.3M contract for Transport Scotland involved the replacement of the Lairig Eilde Bridge adjacent to the Lairig Eilde waterfall, a popular visitor attraction.

Transport Scotland worked closely with the National Trust: for Scotland to ensure the new bridge integrated 'sympathetically' with the surrounding environment.
