Clyde Arc repair work gets under way
Five bespoke "saddle frames" were installed on top of Glasgow's Clyde Arc last week to allow cable connectors on the bridge to be replaced.
The frames will transfer the 96m span bridge's load, allowing contractor Nuttall to dismantle the 14 cables and replace the connectors.
One of the Macalloy cable connectors snapped unexpectedly on the evening of 14 January. On further inspection by Nuttall and its consultant Halcrow a fault was found in a second connector.
Materials consultant Sandberg is testing the connectors to determine the cause of the faults. Glasgow City Council has claimed it is hopeful the bridge will re-open within four months.
